For those of you who like to play around with photo apps, I thought I’d introduce you to one that I’ve just discovered called Prisma, that creates beautifully artistic images from your photographs.

You can either take a shot directly with the app or process a photo that you’ve already taken. There are numerous effects that can be added to give different looks to the images and you can adjust the strength of the filter effect;

While the range of filters is great, you do have to apply each one to see the results – probably OK once you’re used to what they do, but for a beginner you have to spend a bit of time trying each one until you find the look you want.
Another criticism is that the final output image is limited to square crop in size 1080×1080. But it’s still a lot of fun.
I’ve found that abstract and architectural images work well. So far shots of people have been a bit more hit and miss.
Either way, the app is free and available on iOS and Android.
